This is great advice and you should follow it. However, it isn’t as easy as it sounds. Reviews can be confusing. They may not provide you with a clear picture of what the company has to offer.

The following is a guide on how to evaluate reviews to get a better picture of the company.

1. Decide on your criteria beforehand
   It’s important to begin the process of searching for a crawlspace waterproofing company with an idea of what you are looking for in mind. What makes a great service provider? Do you want a full service company? What types of complaints would you consider a red flag? Your criteria will be your guide as you evaluate customer reviews.
2. Use a trusted third party website
   Lots of companies have customer reviews posted on their websites. These are, however, always positive, painting the company in a good light. If you want reviews that are unbiased, check trusted third-party websites such as Better Business Bureau, Angie’s List and many more.
3. Don’t depend on third-party grading
   It can be tempting to choose to only look at companies that have been awarded high grading by third party websites. However, this can be misleading. The grades may not have been awarded in line with your criteria. A company with an A+ grading from Better Business Bureau may not have the services you’re interested in and may have complaints that are red flags to you.
4. Read the actual complaints
   Don’t base your judgment on the number of complaints. Go to the individual company review pages on third-party websites and read the complaints. A company may have only 5 complaints which are serious while another may have 10 complaints which may be about issues that aren’t red flags to you.
   Some companies may have many complaints as a result of being in business for longer. They may have more customers and have been operating for a long time. Others may have few complaints as they have been operating only for a brief period and have few customers.
5. View how the company responded
   There’s no such thing as the perfect crawlspace waterproofing company. However, their response to complaints will tell you whether they are worthy of trust or not. A company may have many complaints and have addressed each and every complaint to the satisfaction of their customers. Other companies may have one or two complaints that they never bother to address. Which would you prefer to work with?
